I wanted to find key performers from the Giants vs Seahawks game fast – stats hunting takes forever sometimes. Grabbed my laptop right after breakfast, still in pajamas. Opened four browser tabs: ESPN, *, the Seahawks subreddit, and some fan forum I bookmarked ages ago.

First Try Mess

Started clicking everywhere like a maniac. ESPN had this fancy interactive box score, but the dang page kept jumping around when I scrolled. Saw a flashy graphic for DK Metcalf, but zero clue about his total yards without clicking three more times. * had cleaner tables, but the defensive stats were buried under ads for football cleats. Felt like searching for fries at the bottom of a greasy takeout bag.

The Reddit Rescue

Scrolled through the game thread on Reddit – total chaos. People screaming about refs or dropping memes. Finally found a stats bot comment buried under 200 replies! Copied that raw text into Notepad. Looked like this garbage:

Giants Seahawks Game Player Stats: Find Key Performers and Leaders Fast

  • Smith 21/31 212yds 1TD
  • Walker III 17att 79yds
  • Metcalf 4rec 58yds

No headers, no positions, just numbers vomit. Better than nothing though.

Spreadsheet Time

Fired up Google Sheets. Made columns: Player Position Yards Touchdowns Tackles (for defense). Split that messy Reddit data into cells manually while sipping cold coffee. Took 15 minutes just to sort Geno Smith from Kenneth Walker. Highlighted top yardage guys in yellow – felt like a preschooler with crayons but hey, it worked.

Finally spotted Kenneth Walker III as the rushing leader for Seattle – 79 yards popped right out. Giants? Bam, found Daniel Jones looking kinda mid with 40 rushing yards. For defense, had to circle back to * and dig for Quandre Diggs hitting 8 tackles. Slapped those into the sheet with big bold font.

Why Bother?

Why do this? Cause last week my buddy Dave argued Walker ain’t starter material. Dude wouldn’t shut up during kickoff. So I made this trashy spreadsheet, texted him a screenshot with “LEADING RUSHER – LOOK IT UP.” Silence. Then he replied “stats lie.” Classic Dave. Whatever. Next time I’ll just check fantasy apps.
