So I fired up MLB The Show 25 yesterday wanting to start a new season, but my rosters were totally out of date – no recent trades, no roster moves, nothing. Felt like playing with last year’s team. Figured there must be some easy way to update this mess.
First dumb thing I tried was going through each team manually. Yeah, that lasted about 30 seconds. Opened the Yankees lineup and realized I’d need to change like ten players. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
The Actual Solution I Found
Went digging in the menus and found the roster update option. Totally obvious once you know where to look! Here’s exactly what worked:
- From the main screen, hit Options in the bottom right corner
- Scrolled down to “Roster Control” and pressed X
- Saw “Download Latest Rosters” – felt like finding gold!
- Clicked it and got a “This’ll overwrite current rosters” warning – obviously said yes
- Game downloaded for about 60 seconds with a progress bar
- Boom – completely updated rosters ready to go
Whole process took maybe four minutes while I was snacking. Stupid easy.
Important Tip After My Screwup
Make sure you do this before starting any new saves! I accidentally loaded my franchise first like an idiot, then had to back out to do the update. If you’re in the middle of a season it won’t apply properly. Fresh start only.
This works for all platforms too – did it on PlayStation myself but my buddy confirmed same steps on Xbox. Feels good having current lineups without doing crazy manual work. Game should really pop up a notification about roster updates though.
