So today I thought I’d play around with my MLB jacket cause it’s been collecting dust in my closet. Grabbed that blue Yankees one with the big logo on the front. Figured streetwear vibes would work best since it’s kinda loud.
Started by digging through my drawers for basics. Found some black ripped jeans and a plain white tee. Threw those on first – easy start. The jacket went over it, zipped halfway. Felt too simple though, like something was missing.
First Try & Problem
Tried adding these bright red sneakers I have. Big mistake. Made me look like a walking traffic light with the blue jacket. Felt stupid staring in the mirror. Changed into beat-up white high-tops instead.
Then noticed the whole outfit looked flat. Remembered seeing streetwear guys layer hoodies under jackets. Found a grey hoodie without any logos – perfect. Pulled the hood over the jacket collar so it peeked out. Much better.
Accessory Experiments
Rummaged through my junk drawer for extras:
- Tried dad cap sideways – looked like I was trying too hard
- Silver chain necklace – way too blingy
- Black beanie – yes, added that edge
- Camo crossbody bag – kept it slung low near my hip
Switched to darker wash jeans since the black ones were swallowing the outfit. Watched some basketball in this getup to test comfort. Jacket sleeves rolled up twice naturally during chips-and-soda breaks.
Final Touches
Ended up with: grey hoodie under unzipped jacket, dark jeans cuffed once, white sneakers, black beanie slightly back on my head. Took mirror pics near my brick wall for that street look. Noticed the logo stands out less when you let the hoodie show under.
Biggest lesson? Simple layers beat trying to be flashy. That jacket’s thick enough without extra baggage. Gonna wear this combo when meeting friends later – no idea if they’ll roast me or not.
