Okay so yesterday I dug through my closet and realized I got like six MLB tees collecting dust. Always wore em with jeans like a total snoozefest. Figured why not jazz things up? Did some Pinterest lurking and decided to test five simple looks.
Look 1: Half-tuck w/ fancy pants
First I grabbed my Yankees tee – classic white with navy stripes. Found those black tailored trousers that usually hide in the back. Threw on some white sneakers and actually tucked just the front corner of the tee into the pants. Felt weird doing it but holy heck it looked sharp! Like instantly dressed up but still chill.
Look 2: Knot twist over bike shorts
Changed into my hot pink Dodger shirt and athletic shorts combo. Hated how it just hung there looking frumpy. Grabbed the hem at my left hip, twisted it twice and tied a lil knot there. Boom. Instant shape and showed just enough skin to feel sporty, not sloppy.
Look 3: Double layer button-up hack
Tried my gray Cubs tee with this blue checkered shirt I almost donated. Left the shirt halfway unbuttoned over the tee, rolled the sleeves up messy-like. Surprise winner! Made my basic tee look way more expensive, plus got sun protection for walks. Office casual vibes without trying hard.
Look 4: Ripped jeans + bandana scarf
Dragged out faded ripped jeans, red Cardinals tee, and an old black bandana. Tied the bandana loose around my neck pirate-style. Super simple but immediately cooler than just tee-and-jeans. Added silver hoop earrings and boom – rocker girl energy without spending a dime.
Look 5: Skirt + tucked socks situation
Last experiment with my purple Marlins tee. Threw it over a black midi skirt and felt blah. Went full tuck this time! Added knee-high white socks with platform sneakers. Actually loved it? Weird combo but kinda retro cute for coffee runs.
Ended up wearing the button-up hack to Target today. Got two compliments from cashiers. Solid W for closet leftovers. Learned five main things:
- Half-tucks beat full-tucks
- Knotting hides lazy laundry days
- Denim jackets still win
- Bandanas > jewelry for lazy accessories
- Baggy tees play nicer with skirts than fitted ones
Honestly shocked how simple tweaks made tees feel new. Definitely doing the layer thing again tomorrow.
