So last Tuesday I’m sitting at my desk staring at this blank wall above my gaming setup, thinking it needs some hometown pride. Decided a Los Angeles flag would look sick up there. Pulled out my phone like any normal person would and just typed “buy la flag” straight into the search bar.
The Cheap Sites Disaster
First few hits showed those sketchy discount sites. You know the ones with names like “Flags4LessBonanza” – seemed too good to be true. Clicked on one, saw a small polyester LA flag for under five bucks plus “free shipping.” Instant red flag but I was feeling lazy. Checkout was stupid fast – three clicks and done. Didn’t even create an account.
Package showed up two weeks later looking like it went through a trash compactor. Unwrapped it and oh man. Colors looked washed out like faded jeans, city seal was pixelated, and the material? My dog thought it was a chew toy. Absolute garbage. Spent another hour digging through my email for their return policy – turns out “free shipping” didn’t cover returns. After thirty minutes of scrolling, FINALLY found one. Price was decent around $20, but shipping cost more than the flag itself unless I bought $50 worth of other crap. Site froze when I tried applying some 10% off coupon code. Closed that tab so fast.
Local Surprise Win
Almost gave up when I remembered this souvenir shop I passed last summer downtown. Found their actual website (not just a social media page!). Real photos showed thick stitching and actual vibrant colors. Emailed them asking “is this legit or just stock photos?” Got a reply in twenty minutes with a picture of the owner holding today’s newspaper next to their flags. Sold!
Ordered through their simple portal. Paid $28 total including tax and shipping. Arrived in four days in a real cardboard tube. Unrolled it – heavyweight fabric, crisp colors, properly embroidered seal edges. Held it up and actually yelled “YES!” in my empty apartment. Totally worth every penny.
