Why Isn’t MLB The Show on PC?
I’m a huge baseball fan and really wanted to play MLB The Show on my PC. But guess what? No PC version anywhere. Got super frustrated so I started digging around.
Turns out it’s all about money deals between Sony and MLB. Sony owns the studio making this game, and they want PlayStation to feel special. Like how Spider-Man games only show up on PlayStation first. Same thing here.
Basically they think PC players won’t pay as much as console folks. Also heard rumors the PC port would cost too much for Sony to bother. Whatever, their loss!
My Quest to Play It Anyway
Gave up waiting and decided to try workarounds. First tried PlayStation Now streaming but nope, MLB The Show wasn’t there at all. Waste of time.
Then I saw people talking about remote play tricks. But that needs an actual PlayStation in the house. Don’t have one, so dead end.
Finally found the solution: Xbox Cloud Gaming with Game Pass Ultimate. Here’s exactly what I did:
- Paid for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate monthly subscription
- Installed the Xbox app from the Microsoft Store
- Logged in and went straight to the cloud games section
- Clicked MLB The Show and it started up right away!
Used my regular keyboard and mouse first but felt weird. Plugged in an old PlayStation controller instead – worked perfectly after Bluetooth pairing.
How It Actually Plays
Look, it’s not magic. With my crappy home wi-fi there’s noticeable lag sometimes. When I swing the bat there’s a tiny delay. Pitches seem slower too. Really messes with timing!
Tried again at my friend’s place with wired internet connection. Way smoother experience. Still not perfect graphics though – looks a bit fuzzy compared to his actual Xbox.
The control setup feels janky too. Had to remap buttons for like 20 minutes before it felt right.
My Final Thoughts
So yeah it’s possible! But man what a hassle. Paying monthly just for this single game is annoying. And I can’t even play if the internet goes down.
Sony really needs to stop being stubborn. Other PlayStation exclusives came to PC eventually – Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War. Why not baseball?
Until they change their minds, this cloudy workaround is what we got. It’s better than nothing but definitely not the same. What you all think? Worth the effort?
